The sandbar connecting Nosy Iranja Be to Iranja Kely
Nosy Antsoha is a private island and a nature reserve where you can see four different species of lemurs that are endemic to Madagascar. These lemurs, now accustomed to tourists, will eagerly jump at you in hopes of getting food. So, make sure to bring bananas and prepare for the "assault"! Among the various species, you'll also spot the famous Crowned Sifaka, an incredibly funny creature with white-cream fur, a dark brown neck, and orange shades on its chest, shoulders, and hips. You'll also encounter the Ring-tailed Lemurs, which are the most beautiful and charming, as they greedily feed on fruits, flowers, leaves, and bark. Lastly, the famous Indri Lemur, the largest in the family and the most unusual due to its guttural call, resembling the noise made when you have something stuck in your throat.
Nosy Iranja is a small island in Madagascar, located off the northwestern coast of the main island, near the Ampasindava Peninsula, about an hour's boat ride from Nosy Be. It is made up of two islands connected by a sandbar, which emerges only during low tide, stretching 2 km. Iranja is also known as the eighth most beautiful island in the world and as the Turtle Island, as it is an important nesting reserve for green sea turtles, which arrive in thousands to the southern part of the island to lay their eggs.
The northern island, Nosy Iranja Be, is home to a small village of local fishermen and a lighthouse designed by Gustave Eiffel, which stands at the top of the island and offers panoramic views of the Radama Archipelago. Nosy Iranja Kely, the opposite part of the island, hosts an exclusive luxury resort, the Nosy Iranja Lodge.
