Small bridge at the entrance to the nature reserve
Nosy Komba is a small volcanic island in Madagascar, located between Nosy Be and the north-western coast of the mainland. It is also known as Nosy Ambariovato, which in Malagasy means "island surrounded by rocks," due to the volcanic rock outcrops that encircle it. Covered by a dense tropical forest, it hosts rich and diverse fauna and flora. (Wikipedia)
On Nosy Komba, you can find the black lemurs, "maki maki," who are fond of bananas. Simply hold one with your hand extended upwards, and they will jump directly from the trees onto your shoulders. Like all lemurs, the Maki
Like all lemurs, the Maki is not aggressive; it is curious, adorable, and greedy. The male of this species has an intense black coat, while the female has browner fur with white fur around the face; the difference is very noticeable. In real life, they are a spectacle of nature, but they can be more difficult to photograph compared to lemurs with lighter colors.
